Abstract
This paper presents research to explore the symbolic meanings behind product-user attachment to personal products. The participant’s personal products of attachment were identified and examined in relation with attachment over time symbolic meanings through semantic differential scales and follow-up interviews. Four possible strengthening factors of product-user attachment emerged: usability, essential purpose, pleasure and sentimental value.
