Lab Description
Our laboratory currently focuses on the development of solar energy devices using the most promising renewable energy. Especially, we are studying novel concepts of solar cells using nano/micro-technology to realize the physical properties that couldn't be observed in bulk semiconductor materials. Typically, we have developed 1) transparent crystalline silicon (c-Si) solar cells and 2) cost-effective high-efficiency flexible solar cells using opaque and rigid c-Si wafers. These topics are expected breakthrough research to overcome the stereotype that c-Si wafer cannot be transparent and flexible. Furthermore, we have demonstrated 3) dopant-free high-efficiency c-Si solar cells based on hetero-junctions, 4) monolithic PV-Battery hybrid devices for powerless systems, and 5) reactive oxygen species(ROS) generation system. Our laboratory keeps trying to produce world-class experts through the design, fabrication, and characterization of energy devices based on the theoretical knowledge in the semiconductor. We also have global research competitiveness by regularly publishing research results at domestic/international journals and conferences. Thus, the vision of our lab is to lead students to be world-class experts who contribute to raising the R&D level in South Korea. In order to realize our vision, we are doing our best to build academic and personal foundations.
