Abstract
The interpretation of the NEA-1517/74 shielding benchmark (measurements of photon leakage flux from a hollow sphere with a central 14 MeV neutron source) from the SINBAD database is conducted with the Monte Carlo code MCS under development at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, Ulsan, South Korea. A verification of MCS against the Monte Carlo MCNP6.2 shows a good agreement in the calculated photon leakage flux. Consistency is observed between the photon flux calculated by MCS with the libraries ENDF/B-VII.1 and EPICS2014 and the experimental data. Overall, this paper brings validation elements for the newly implemented coupled neutron-photon transport capability of MCS.
