We present a transmodal elastic metasurface which effectively converts incident longitudinal waves to shear waves. The transmodal metasurface not only redirects the reflected shear wave but also forbids the formation of reflected longitudinal wave. Numerical and
Experimental validations are made to support our idea. We expect our new idea can provide a new way in mode conversion applications.
