Abstract
In the present study, we analyze the neural correlates of defensive behavior, focusing on alpha oscillation of human electroencephalogram (EEG). According to the threat imminence model, the defensive behavior consists of three steps: 1) Pre-Encounter ; 2) Post-Encounter; and 3) Circa-Strike. We aim to characterize alpha oscillations induced in each step. Differences are expected in 2nd step (post-encounter defense; after detecting threat) based on whether a person can avoid actively.
