A screening of support and metal oxide catalysts for the reforming of propane with carbon dioxide has been investigated in a pulse or continuous flow reactors. Among the supports tested, γ-Al2O3 showed the highest reactivity. As a result of metal oxide catalyst screening, NiO and Ga2O3 were selected as candidates of catalyst. In addition, the dissociation of carbon dioxide, adsorption of propane and hydrogenation of surface carbon have also been examined to understand the reaction mechanism.
