In the domain of manufacturing, many simulators have been released to model and simulate various activities necessary to enhance the efficiency of FMSs. However, the FMS’s dynamic nature caused due to the concurrent flow of various parts as well as sharing of different types of resources requires inevitable hand-woven codes to fully implement all the activities in simulation. The objective of the paper is to develop an Intelligent SIMulator (ISIM) useful for FMS control. The ISIM has mainly three powerful capabilities: process specification capability, resource specification capability, decision-making. By integrating these capabilities, the ISIM can rapidly and effectively perform the simulation modeling activities for the FMS operation and hence intelligently aid in resolving the decision-making problems occurring in controlling the FMS.
