The preferred white of the display is affected by the ambient lighting condition. This study investigates how the preferred display white is affected by the display's size using a Head Mounted Display (HMD) and a large TV display shown under the ambient lighting having 3000 or 3500K CCT. The size of the display was implemented in three types: smartphone, monitor, and large TV. Achromatic white cup image was used as a stimulus, with no preconceptions about colors. The psychophysical experiment was conducted to evaluate the degree of neutralness, yellowness-blueness, and preference of the 12 stimuli of different CCTs. As a result, there was not much difference in results according to the evaluation criteria, and the tendency of experiment results using HMD and large TV was similar. However, in a large TV experiment, the higher CCT was preferred as white. Even if the size of the display was different, the difference of CCT as white was insignificant. However, it was shown that the larger the display size, the wider the range of the allowable CCT as white.
