Conventionally, color emotions are investigated using simple square color patches though in reality, colors are shown inside the various emotional shapes. In this study, the effects of emotions evoked by shapes on those by colors with shapes are investigated. Five female garment shapes along with rectangular shape and 10 single colors, 20 two-color combinations are selected. The evoked emotions are scaled using 9 color emotion scales; warm?cool, heavy?light, modern?classical, clean?dirty, active?passive, hard?soft, tense?relaxed, fresh?stale and masculine?feminine. Test patterns shown on the LCD monitors in the dark room are evaluated by 10 observers. The experimental results show that the color emotions are shifted toward the emotion of shapes. There is a linear relationship between color and shape emotions; ΨTotal=αㆍΨcolor+βㆍΨshape.
