Abstract
High efficiency organic solar cells (OSCs) require conjugated polymers with a low band gap, broad absorption in visible and IR region, high carrier mobility, and relatively high molecular weight as p-type donor materials. In this study, diketopyrrolopyrrole-based copolymer namely, Poly{3,6-dithien-2-yl-2,5-di(2-decyltetradecyl)-pyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrrole-1,4-dione-5’,5’’-diyl-alt-4,7-di-2-thienyl-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole-5,5’-diyl} (PDTDPP-alt-DTBT) is synthesized and fully characterized by GPC, NMR, UV-vis absorption, and cyclic voltammetry. Photovoltaic device measurement with a device configuration of ITO/ PDTDPP-alt-DTBT:PCBM blends/Al shows a power conversion efficiency of 0.54%.
