Abstract
A computational method, combined with an experimental method for reconstructing 3D polycrystalline microstructure, is developed to investigate the macroscopic d33 responses of both untextured (1 MRD) rhombohedral Bi0.5Na0.4K0.1TiO3 (BNKT) and textured (4.41 MRD) one. Using the reported anisotropic properties of the single-crystal BNKT, the method gives the response of BNKT, matched with the experimental values, as a function of the microstructure parameters, such as texture and poling of c-axis. Based on the success of BNKT case, effect of texture on the macroscopic d33 responses of various piezoelectric materials is investigated.
