Mitochondria are critical cellular regulatory nodal points intersecting multiple regulatory pathways of cell death and metabolism. The mitochondrial chaperone TRAP1 has been reported to regulate mitochondrial cell death and metabolism. We are interested in elucidation of TRAP1 functions in cancer cell and cancer stem cells, and development of mitochondria-targeted or mitochondria-permeable TRAP1 inhibitors, SMTIN and panvotinib, respectively.
