Lab Description
ATE Lab focuses on fundamental & applied research in the fields of heat transfer and energy. Specific areas of research that we are currently interested in include:1) Zero-carbon energy systems & technologies: To realize a carbon-neutral society, it is essential to use zero-carbon fuels such as hydrogen-based fuels in main end-use sectors: industry, transportation and buildings. Recently, there has been a focus on these fuels as sustainable energy sources for future mobility. Our mission is to deeply understand thermo-physical properties of zero-carbon fuels and achieve their cost/technological competitiveness.2) Advanced heat transfer engineering: For efficient thermal management of high-power devices, our lab is interested in improving existing thermal technologies or developing new ones. We are interested in the thermal design of heat transport devices, including heat spreader, heat exchangers, etc. Our goal is to accelerate innovation in this field by investigating thermophysical phenomena using advanced methods including imaging techniques, numerical simulations, and other innovative experimental/modeling techniques.3)Intelligent thermal solutions: We are also interested in providing intelligent thermal solutions by combining up-to-date techniques, including Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. Recent research scope includes flow regime identification, learning-based optimization, and energy network monitoring/diagnosis system for refueling station/industrial plant.
