Research Interests
Welcome to CSMD (Computational Structural Mechanics and Design) Laboratory in UNIST. Understanding and harnessing complex mechanical behaviors of structures, including multiscale (across various time and length scale) and multiphysics (intertwined different physical disciplines) phenomena with the presence of structural nonlinearity, are the overarching themes of us. These are particularly important in multifunctional active materials (aka smart), which are prospect game-changers in soft-robotics, adaptive structures, and bio-mimetic systems. To this aim, we are developing and integrating computational methods to simulate and design structures with inhomogeneities and distinctive topology.
