dc.description.abstract Polysuccinimide (PSI) is a unique polymer consisting of a series of succinimidyl ring groups, conveniently synthesized by polycondensation of aspartic acid. Being a bio-based polymer, it can be easily functionalized with various chemical moieties by ring-opening reaction with amine-based nucleophiles. Therefore, PSI presenting desired functional groups could be easily developed and implemented for a wide range of applications. In this presentation, several examples of the biomedical application of multi-functional PSI are introduced, including biosensor for protein detection, protein conjugation for cell adhesion, in situ forming hydrogels for drug delivery and tissue engineering -
