Abstract
Here, we report the synthesis of new functional monomers of dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) by esterification with carboxylic acids that can be derived from biomass. We demonstrate that the esterification of DCPD proceeds via a reaction intermediate, that is, cydecanol (DCPD-OH), and propose an esterification mechanism over solid acid catalysts. Here, we report the synthesis of new functional monomers of dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) by esterification with carboxylic acids that can be derived from biomass.
