dc.description.abstract While participatory futuring is gaining traction in the emerging research and practice of design for sustainability transitions, there is limited understanding on how to operationalize it in real -life design practices and the practical challenges in doing so. This design case study explores the use of participatory futuring with citizens as one way of designing for sustainability transitions of a national art museum in South Korea. Highlighting its democratic and practical potential for public institutions, this paper examines the challenges and opportunities in employing this approach and discusses the capabilities necessary for designers to successfully apply the approach in real -life design practices. -
