dc.description.abstract Total mode conversion from longitudinal to shear wave has been passionately studied in elastic field; especially, total mode conversion with broad incident angle has been a curious but complicated scientific challenge. Here, we suggest the broad angle refractive total mode converter metasurface. We utilize single layer metasurface to realize full transmission with various incident angles. By realizing full transmission, the metasurface can prevent the wave energy leakage into the reflected waves. To transfer incident longitudinal wave energy into the transmitted shear wave only, we realized sufficiently large phase gradient. We carried out numerical and experimental investigations to validate the performance of the broad-angle refractive total mode converter metasurface, which leads to the perfect conversion from -20.4° to 22.3° incident angle. -
