Abstract
Asphalt pavement is prone to be rutting if persistently submerged into the contaminated water. Rainwater seeping through asphalt layer is stagnated in the concrete surface due to the low permeability of the concrete, resulting in potential degradation of the overlayed asphalt pavement. For a prognostic monitoring of the asphalt pavement, this study proposes a method for the stagnant water map detection using GPR data. Topographic prominence analysis is employed to identify where the rainwater is stagnated. The proposed method is field validated using an operational highway bridge.
