Study on manufacturing high-performance Carbon Fiber through comparison of the batch- and continuous-scale heat-treatment process: Depending on residence time in stabilization
For manufacturing the polyacrylonitrile (PAN)-based carbon fiber (CF), the heat treatment process including stabilization and carbonization is one of the most important processes. During heat treatment, factors affecting the high-performance of carbon fiber incorporate tension, temperature, and residence time should be considered essential. In this study, the effect of the stabilization residence time for the performance improvement of carbon fibers is investigated by the comparison of the batch- and continuous-scale heat treatment.
