dc.description.abstract Recently, we have reported a new quasi-one-dimensional S = 1 chain system NiTe2O5. In terms of crystallographic structure, Ni2+ ions are located in the middle of NiO6 octahedra, and O2- ions are located at the corner of NiO6 octahedra. NiO6 octahedra connected through the edge-sharing each other form a quasi-one-dimensional chain structure of NiTe2O5. As the temperature decreases, the antiferromagnetic long-range order of Ni2+ ions occurs at 30.5 K. The single crystal neutron diffraction reveals the unconventional critical behavior of the order parameter around the ordering temperature and the heat capacity experiment shows the large Sommerfeld coefficient. Also, 125Te nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments reveal intriguing persistent spin fluctuation above the ordering temperature. In this presentation, we introduce new quasi-one-dimensional NiTe2O5 and discuss its intriguing physical properties.
