dc.description.abstract Over the past decade, organic materials for electronic devices have attracted considerable attention due to their high ability to produce the flexible and light-weight substrate, low production cost, and large area electronics by simple solution-process methods. For these reasons, organic materials, such as thienyl substituted diketopyrrolopyrrole (TDPP), isoindigo (IID), benzodithiophene (BDT), have been studied in various research fields. Among them, TDPP has received interests to research scientist. Because of its remarkable planarity in comparison with others due to the intriguing sulfur-oxygen interaction demonstrated by closer S-O distance versus sum of Van der Waals radii, which allows to compact intermolecular interaction leading to favorable charge transfer.
Accordingly, in this work we synthesized three types of polymers for organic field effect transistors (OFETs), organic photovoltaics (OPVs) using DPP. Firstly, PDPP-BZ, PDPP-FBZ were synthesized by Suzuki coupling polymerization. Which could be formed good planarity, and introduction of fluorine atom could induce the high Voc value. Secondly, mercury flanked DPP polymers, and containing diacetylene group containing polymer which did not apply to the electronic devices. And, finally to investigate the variation of charge transfer and crystallinity as tuning the number of thiophene spacers between DPP motif and vinylene unit, we reported the three polymers DPP-TVT-n for OFETs. This work already has been published in Advanced Functional Materials.
