dc.description.abstract Main electrical components of large ship’s power network such as a container ship and a semi-rig are provided with main power from diesel generators. Power capacity of the generator is determined by the maximum load power. When the ship leaves and enters port, the power generation of the generator will be increased rapidly by thruster’s power consumption. Using energy storage system (ESS) which acts as a distributed power generator for the thruster, maximum power capacity reduction of the diesel generator is required for loosing components weight and increasing ship’s energy efficiency. For analyzing power system stability in various operating conditions of the ship’s power network, detailed modeling of the electric components such as generator, automatic voltage regulator (AVR), governor and thruster driver should be implemented. The detail model also can make other simultaneous study of different aspects possible such as power quality, stability analysis, and control prototyping in both transient and steady-state operations. In this paper, the ship’s power network including the ESS is proposed for the maximum power capacity reduction of the diesel generator and the increment of energy which will be verified by empirical data with simulation results. -
