dc.description.abstract In this work, we propose a new sensing platform based on nanopedestal Fano metamaterials for ultrasensitive detection of biomolecules. The structure supports a sharp and nonradiative Fano resonance exhibiting strong nearfield intensity and increased effective sensing area. Experimentally we fabricate the nanopedestal Fano metamaterials and the control metamaterials for direct comparison of the sensing characteristics. -
