dc.description.abstract In this paper, a theory about the elastic deformation in icosahedral clusters was proposed. We have obtained the analytical expression of the elastic deformation distribution in icosahedral clusters, which is in good agreement with the results of numerical simulation. Both our theory and the results of numerical simulation indicate that the icosahedral clusters are not uniformly deformed, the bond length increases moving from center to surface. -
