Abstract
The tensile properties and load relaxation behavior of extruded Mg-8Sn-3Al-1Zn alloy at 250°C were investigated. Superplasticity was observed in the alloy, which exhibited tensile elongations of 450-1050% at strain rates in the range of 5×10-4-5×10-3s-1. Load relaxation results at 250°C indicated that grain boundary sliding is responsible for the superplastic properties of the alloy, even though it does not act as a primarily operating deformation mechanism.
