This paper presents the generalized lapped biorthogonal transform embedded inverse discrete cosine transform (ge-IDCT) as an alternative to the IDCT. The ge-IDCT with nonlinear weighting in the embedded transform domain can reconstruct the signal with alleviated blockishness.
