Void core/shell 구조를 갖는 합성수지 안료 (plastic pigment)를 합성하고 이를 수성 라텍스 페인트에 배합하여 백색도, 은폐력 등을 실험하였다. 합성에 있어서는 seed, core, sheath, swelling 및 shell 중합의 다단계 유화중합법을 사용하였으며 각 단계별로 반응조건에 따른 입경조절, 2차적인 핵형성(secondary nucleation)의 최소화 및 단계별 polymer들의 compatibility와 팽윤 과정을 고려한 morphology의 조절방법 등에 대해 검토하였다. 생성된 중공(void core) 구조의 합성수지 안료는 수성 폐인트에 TiO2를 일부 대체하여 사용했을 때 백색도, 은폐력 등에 있어서 동등의 효과가 있음을 관찰하였다.
Plastic pigments with void core/shell structure were synthesized and resulting latices were tested in the aqueous paint formulation. For the synthesis of plastic pigment a sequential emulsion polymerization method was used. Control of particle size, secondary nucleation and morphology for the void core/shell structure was investigated in a sequential step of seed, core, sheath, swelling and shell polymerization. The resulting plastic pigment latices were tested for whiteness and hiding in aqueous paint formulations for a partial substitution with titanium dioxide inorganic pigment. |
