dc.description.abstract Fundamental aspects of the mechanism of oxidative methane coupling are treated. The surface has a dual role. In the selective pathway to C2 products it generates methyl radicals which leave the surface to recombine in the gas phase. In the non-selective pathway to COx it catalyzes the oxidation of surface methyl species or C2 products that return to the surface. This mechanism leads to research strategies for selectivity improvement. © 1990 Akadémiai Kiadó. -
