예술현장의 교육적 가능성: 금천예술공장의 작가-학생 공동예술프로그램 사례 연구

Abstract

이 글에서는 현대미술기반 교육사례를 통해서 예술현장의 교육적 가능성을 탐색하기 위한 목적에서, 최근의 사례연구에서 파악한 미술창작‧전시공간 입주작가들이 고등학생들과 함께 진행했던 공동예술작업의 특성과 시사점을 검토하였다. 예술현장기반 공동예술프로그램 실행현장에서 수집한 자료들을 먼저 세 가지 범주: 창작공간의 환경 특성, 작가-학생 공동예술창작워크숍 프로그램의 특성, 참여자의 반응으로 정리하였다. 다음으로 학교 미술교육에 대한 시사점을 도출하기 위해서 분석결과를 선행연구 결과와 비교하였다. 이러한 분석과정을 통해서, 예술현장기반 교육활동이 학교 등과 같은 정규교육공간에서의 활동보다 공간과 과정에 대한 좀 더 풍요로운 질적 경험, 그리고 좀 더 적극적인 나눔과 협력을 장려한다는 점을 파악하였다. 이러한 연구결과는 예술현장기반 공동예술교육활동의 특성에 대한 교사들의 이해를 돕고, 나아가 현대미술세계 안에서 생성되고 있는 다양한 형태의 교육적 가능성들에 대한 좀 더 폭넓은 연구들을 제안한다. This paper explores the educational potential of creative art space by reviewing a case study of the characteristics and educational implications of a recent collaborative art program carried out in an art center in Seoul. The data collected from the site were first arranged into three categories: environmental characteristics, characteristics of artist-student collaborations, and participants’ responses to the process and the results of the collaborative works. Next, the outcomes were compared with the findings of a previous study to draw out the implications for art education in schools. From this analysis, the study identifies that art making experience in creative art space encourages much richer experience in space and process and more active participations in sharing and exchanging than those in formal educational spaces such as schools. The outcomes of the study can enhance teachers’ understanding of the nature of collaborative activities in a creative art space. In addition, the study recommends more extensive research on the educational possibilities of diverse forms of art spaces created in the contemporary art world.
