Abstract
The color appearances of the color patches are investigated in terms of hue, colorfulness and brightness when there are two different lightings having different luminance levels. The experimental result showed that the colors look brighter and more colorful under lower luminance condition compared to the colors having the same absolute CIE XYZ values under higher luminance condition. This finding indicates the cognitive color constancy phenomena, which cannot be explained using the current color appearance models.
