Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are indeed atomically precise materials, assembled from distinct metal nodes and organic linkers, becoming a unique platform for multidisciplinary sciences to study physical phenomena in greater detail. However, metamaterials are not usually atomically precise, and therefore the connection between the bulk and molecular structure is often lost. We are particularly interested in mechanical metamaterials, such as negative Poisson’s ratio (NPR) materials because we
hypnotize that the origin of the atomic moventment is crucial for these NPR materials. In this talk, a porphyrinic MOF(UPF-1) as NPR material will be presented,1 together with other MOF systems (for example, evolution of forms in MOFs,2 and metasurface formation due to systematic deconstruction of MOFs3) . In addition to these metamaterials, two MOF hybrid systems,4,5 such as MOP x MOF, and polymer x MOP will be briefly mentioned, where MOP stands for metal-organic polyhedron.
