Abstract
Li(1.1)V(0.9)O(2) (R (3) over barm) with a layered structure has been synthesized by a solid-state reaction of Li(2)CO(3) and V(2)O(3). The microstructure and morphology of the Li(1.1)V(0.9)O(2) are characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The electrochemical reversibility of Li(1.1)V(0.9)O(2) electrode is examined at various charged and discharged states by means of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The considerable improvement of the electrochemical performance of Li(1.1)V(0.9)O(2) electrode is observed by changing the discharge cut-off potential from 1.0 to 2.0 V vs. Li/Li(+).
