Abstract
This paper presents the investigation results of the evanescent mode power and communication technology wireless system to transmit high data /medium power via metal structures. The evanescent field generated by the presented transceiver forms surface waves on the metal structures. The proposed system was designed to operate at a frequency of 13.3 MHz. The receiver was designed to pick-up the
surface waves from the metal to power a 80 Watt load with an efficiency of ~93.3% at any arbitrary position across the metal structure. he proposed system can be used to transmit and receive data in ships, where the traditional wireless radio waves are unable to propagate for communication. Additionally low power sensors and internet of things devices can be wirelessly powered using the proposed system.
