dc.description.abstract This paper presents on the development of novel monolithic suspended carbon nanowire array systems for electrochemical sensor applications. Suspended carbon nanowires were fabricated through conventional simple photolithography and py-rolysis process. Currently a 300 nm wide, 600 nm thick, and 90 μm long carbon nanowire can be fabricated with 1μmover the substrate. The single carbon nanowire system was used as a hydrogen gas sensor to test the feasibility of the system as an electrochemical sensor platform. The simulation of the electrochemical current from a stacked nanoelectrode array demonstrated 100 times redox cycling based electrochemical signal amplification because of enhanced mass transfer. -
